2020 Official Summer Program Class Announcement

Thank You and Congratulations!

We are pleased to announce the official 2020 GSA Summer Program Class!

GSA congratulates the 256 young Kentuckians selected for our 2020 summer program.

We know this is a challenging and unprecedented time in the world; we also know that artists are needed in a way that they’ve rarely, if ever, been needed before.  GSA’s first area of concern has always been the health, safety, and well-being of our students, staff and faculty.  Working in tandem with the Governor’s office, we are closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and protocols with an eye toward any potential impact on the 2020 summer program.

We are still actively considering how we can convene the 2020 class in a way that prioritizes our students’ safety, as well as their artistic and educational experience; we cannot ask them to create if we cannot ensure their well-being first.  At this time, we still plan on an exciting, uplifting, and transformational summer program to take place in the window of June 28th – July 18th.

We will contact students accepted into the 2020 summer program in the coming weeks with more concrete updates, at which time we will ask them to confirm whether they intend to accept their position at GSA (if they are unable to participate, or if they plan on participating in another program – i.e. the Governor’s Scholars Program, etc. – they can let us know at that time).

We know our students and partners are eager to learn more, and we will provide additional information as soon as we can. We are grateful for your patience in the meantime. We are committed to our accepted applicants as Kentuckians, artists, and now as GSA students – we will do everything we can to ensure they receive the high-quality experience they deserve this summer.

What is important today is that we celebrate the amazing achievements of those who have been accepted into GSA 2020.  They have worked hard, persevered, and succeeded.  Congratulations to our accepted students and welcome to the GSA Family – we hope you revel in your accomplishments and feel very proud of yourself!

What Does It Mean To Be An Alternate?

Accepted students must indicate their intent to attend the program. Some students may decline their position due to another opportunity. In this situation and after consultation with adjudicators and GSA faculty, an alternate student is brought up in the other student's place.  GSA will notify alternates by phone if space becomes available. There are many factors which figure in to an alternate being "pulled up;" including grade level, county, high school, instrument, voice type, etc.

For Accepted Students & Parents

Once attendance has been confirmed, important information about preparing to come to the Summer Program will come to your student via email (the primary email address on their Acceptd application.
