Apply for GSA 2025 Summer Staff

The GSA 2025 summer staff application deadline has been EXTENDED! Applications are now due by end of day on Monday, January 20th. 

*Please note that this applies to both new and returning applicants for the Residential Advisor, Discipline Assistant, and Administrative Intern positions ONLY. Applications for leadership positions (Co-Residential Supervisors, Head Discipline Assistant, and Head Residential Advisor) are now closed.

Each summer, GSA employs approximately 36 staffers per session who help create safety, positivity, and structure for the GSA community of young artists.  We rely on our staff to be role models, rule enforcers, mentors, good communicators, and compassionate leaders who are all working toward one common goal – a transformative student experience.

We are looking for a diverse group of GSA alumni and non-alumni alike, as both offer unique experiences and perspectives to our team. 

Hours and duties can be intense, but former staff members often recall the time and effort spent at GSA as one of the most rewarding experiences of their careers. All GSA staff must live in-residence and be present for training week and the summer program.

 

Both sessions of the GSA 2025 Summer Programs will take place at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY. Please review the following dates:

All Staff In-Person Training Week: This year, we are asking all staff for both sessions of GSA 2025 to attend an in-person training week in the week before Session 1 begins (Monday, June 2nd through Saturday, June 7th). 

Housing and meals will be provided to all staff members during this week. Staff members who are working Session 2 only will still need to report to campus in the week before the session starts (exact date TBD by GSA Admin).

GSA 2025 Session 1: June 8, 2025- June 28, 2025 (Design will only be held in Session 1)

The final date of employment for Session 1 staff members is June 29, 2025.

ALL Session 1 Staff Members must participate in Sunday's clean up and reset for Session 2. Tentatively, you can expect to be working from 9am-2pm on June 29, 2025. 

GSA 2025 Session 2: July 6, 2025- July 26, 2025 (Dance will only be held in Session 2)

The final date of employment for Session 2 staff members is July 27, 2025.

ALL Session 2 Staff Members must participate in Sunday's residence hall clean up and packing. Tentatively, you can expect to be working from 9am-2pm on July 27, 2025.


GSA 2025 Summer Staff Pay Rates:

1st Time Staff Member- $12.00 per hour

Returning Staff Member- $13.00 per hour

Head Residential Advisor- $13.50 per hour

Head Discipline Assistant- $14.00 per hour

Co Residential Supervisors- $14.00 per hour

 

All potential GSA Staffers must complete an application to be considered for an interview.

Applications for summer staff leadership positions (CRSs, Head RA, and Head DA) are due Friday, December 6th, 2024 at 11:59pm ET. 

Applications for new and returning RAs, DAs, and Interns are due Sunday, December 29th, 2024 at 11:59pm ET.

GSA 2025 Residential Advisor

Residential Advisors (RA) live in-residence with the students and are responsible for their wellbeing at all hours. Primarily concerned with students outside of studio time, RAs also take special responsibility for a group of 13-15 students in their RA group.  Click the job title and review the job description to see if you qualify for this opportunity (note that applicants for this position must have graduated high school by 2023). 

 

GSA 2025 Head Residential Advisor

The Head Residential Advisor assists the Co-Residential Supervisors (CRS) in completing daily tasks that pertain to the residential life program and works toward the development of a positive residential experience for not only their group of 13-15 students, but the GSA student body as a whole. Click the job title and review the job description to see if you qualify for this opportunity (note that previous experience as a GSA RA is required).  All applicants for this position will also be considered for the standard Summer Program Residential Advisor position and do not need to submit a separate application for that role.  

 

GSA 2025 Co-Residential Supervisor

The Co-Residential Supervisors (CRS) manage the RA team day-to-day and work very closely with GSA Administration to oversee the overall health and safety of residential life. GSA 2025 Discipline Assistant

The Discipline Assistants (DA) are the in-class liaisons for the faculty and students. Often responsible for administrative work and classroom organization, they also take on a mentorship role for students in their artform. GSA 2025 Head Discipline Assistant

In addition to typical DA duties, the Head DA takes a leadership role amongst the group to organize guest artist logistics and distribute communications. All applicants for this position will also be considered for the standard Summer Program Discipline Assistant position, and do not need to submit a separate application for that role.  


GSA 2025 Administrative Intern

The Administrative Interns work closely with GSA Administrative staff to organize events, fundraisers, and day-to-day logistics.
