Celebrate Juneteenth 2023 with an evening of powerful prose in The Kentucky Center’s Bomhard Theater.  Lipstick Wars Poetry Slam highlights poets from all over the country. First, second and third cash prizes will be awarded! Lipstick Wars is an open platform for poets of all races, ethnicities and unique backgrounds to express their truths, everyday struggles and victories through the art of slam poetry, educational workshops and other programming.

Lipstick Wars was created in 2015 by spoken word poet Rheonna Nicole and, in partnership with Kentucky Performing Arts, debuted in the Bomhard Theater.  Since its creation the slam continues to blossom and grow to new heights, and new Kentucky Performing Arts venues, gaining attention and participation from nationally ranked poets from St. Louis, Ohio, Chicago, New Jersey, Tennessee, South Carolina and Texas.
